Behind the listings

How BrightonLive checks local information.

The public site stays simple. The records behind it keep enough evidence to answer a more important question: “Where did this come from, and why was it published?”

P

Provenance

We retain the source, owner/type of source and collection date instead of stripping that evidence away.

I

Integrity

Stable identifiers and deterministic SHA-256 record fingerprints help reveal duplicates and silent changes.

V

Validation

Dates, URLs, postcodes, coordinates, required fields and source presence are checked before export.

V

Verification

Primary sources, authoritative registers, business-supplied facts or independent corroboration must meet the configured publication rule.

Review

Conflicting, incomplete, private or uncertain records are held for review rather than quietly pushed onto the map.

Publish

Only the public-safe contract is copied into the website. Internal evidence and suppressed contact/address data stay outside the web root.

Source checked does not mean recommended.

BrightonLive verifies information and provenance. It does not certify the quality, financial health, insurance, professional competence or safety of a business.
